Overview:
The Tech in Charge oversees the day-to-day scheduling of technicians and operations of the Transdev Fleet Services location in Sumter, South Carolina. Provides excellent professional customer service to the Contract Client. This maintenance facility operates Monday-Friday 7am – 5pm, with minimal call-out or emergency operations.
Major Responsibilities:
Demonstrates and promotes a “Safety First” lifestyle at the location.
Assist with hiring, coaching, safety training and counseling.
Supervise and monitor technician performance and initiates appropriate disciplinary action in a manner consistent with company/location policy.
Ensures that all mechanics have the proper licenses and certifications.
Oversees repairs, preventive maintenance, and servicing of client assets.
Responsible for support services including heavy overhauls, electronic and light body repairs.
Supervises and inspects major repairs and provide technical assistance to technicians.
Responsible for directing the work of all technicians including the development of work orders and the evaluation of all repairs performed by both the technicians and outside vendors.
Advises General Manager of individual situations that require further attention.
Responsible for DOT compliance
Other duties to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance facility.
Requirements:
High School diploma required; some college preferred.
Must have 3+ years of supervisory experience in a safety sensitive environment.
Must have 3+ years' experience in automotive/diesel vehicle repair industry.
Must be available for emergencies, including weather, civil disturbances, etc.
ASE certifications are required within one year of hire.
Must be a team player
Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possess good judgment and discretion.
Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.
