Job Purpose:

Performs routine maintenance, daily inspections, and minimal reworks. Maintains production standards.

Major

Responsibilities:

List in order of

importance

1)

Performs vehicle maintenance to Transdev Standards

2)

Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair.

3)

Removes, cleans, repairs, reinstalls, and adjusts vehicle components (Engine Emission Components, Driveline Components, Electrical/Electronic Components, Brakes/Suspension/Steering/Exhaust, Cab/Chassis, Hydraulics).

4)

Ensures work orders are completed properly and accurately.

5)

Selects appropriate course of action for repairs.

6)

Evaluates completed work prior to release – seeks supervisor approval where required.

7)

Ensures safe use of power and hand-held tools.

8)

Performs road calls and emergency services as necessary.

9)

Moves vehicles safely between job and work area.

10)

Communicates professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.

11)

Actively participates in safety or educational training as required.

12)

Continuous ASE re-certification is required to remain in job classification.

13)

Other duties as assigned.

Describe level of decision making and list examples of common decisions made:

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Technical training preferred

  • Possess CDL Operator’s license with required endorsements

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Minimum 1 year direct automotive repair experience (Transit or Heavy Duty Fleet preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and meeting PM schedules and operations any of automotive, diesel, or CNG fleet repair shop equipment.

  • Minimum of 2 ASE certifications from any of the following groups or agree to obtain at least 2 of the following in a 9 month period:

  • o T2, S2, H2 Diesel Engines

  • o T3, S3, H3 Drive Train

  • o T4, S4, H4 Brakes

  • o T5, S5, H5 Suspension and Steering

  • o T6, S6, H6 Electrical – Electronic Systems

  • o T7, S7, H7 Heating Ventilation and A/C

  • Must have an appropriate mechanic’s tool set.

  • Excellent communication skills. Bring demonstrated abilities of building solid relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions (include amount of travel):

Maintenance Shop

Must be able to work in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, and grease conditions.
