Transdev Facility Technician II in Garden City, New York

Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair minor on all building systems in various NICE Bus locations. Plant Equipment Technician Level II must be proficient and able to perform all aspects of the Plant Equipment Technician Level II position. All work performed must be of the highest quality ensuring building systems are reliable and safe. Work in such a manner that promotes a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

Performs preventative maintenance on Building Systems as needed

  • Performs inspections on all types of equipment and repair systems/parts when needed

  • Uses preventative maintenance check list to verify repairs

  • Works with Level 1 to perform repairs and inspections involve the following: Bus lifts, Overhead Doors, Boilers, Hot Water Heaters, Pressure Washers, Pneumatic systems, lighting, & electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, but not limited to these items. Completely document all work performed in Maintenance Software.

  • Works with level 1 to diagnoses and repair building systems specifically concentrating on minor to moderate problems including: Bus lifts, Overhead Doors, Boilers, Hot Water Heaters, Pressure Washers, Pneumatic systems, lighting electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping

  • Utilizes power equipment as required: Pressure washer, scissor lifts, ladders, small engine equipment, pipe threaded, diagnostic equipment, fork lift, but not limited to these items.

  • Utilizes repair manuals and parts manuals for aid in making minor repairs

  • Performs both in-house and route repairs for building systems using various hand, power, pneumatic, machine (precision) and machinery tools

  • Cleans, repairs, and replaces building systems equipment as required

  • Tests building systems for proper working order

  • Works with Level 1 & 3 technicians performing required preventative maintenance.

  • Repairing building systems requires physical dexterity and exertion and heavy lifting.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Approximate Percentage of Time for Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance on building systems as needed - 70%

  • Diagnoses and repairs various building systems specifically concentrating on minor to moderate problems -20%

  • Support and assist P/E level 1 & 3 - 5%

  • Cleans work area - 5%

Purpose and Nature of Work Relationships:

Has moderate contact with others inside the organization; works mainly with Maintenance staff and with internal customers. Has moderate contact with others outside and the general public.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years recent progressive heavy equipment maintenance or four (4) years mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatic, electrical additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses or seminars desirable

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Must have a basic understanding of the design, adjustment, overhaul operation and maintenance of lift systems

  • Must be able to work amid constant interruptions and be able to prioritize, be detail oriented and deal with time pressures

  • Must have good communication skills and able to communicate concerns, questions and diagnostic information

  • Must be autonomous and be self-directed

  • Must have basic math skills

  • Must be able to take direction and instruction well

  • Must be physically agile and able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds

  • Basic 2-way radio skills required

  • Basic tools required

  • Must have clean driving record and be able to maintain a clean Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to pass a physical examination including a drug test

Additional Job Requirement

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to heat/cold conditions

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check

  • Must not have had any DUI/DWI convictions in the past 60 months

  • Must not have any moving violations in the past 12 months
