BACO Operations Manager Job Description

OVERVIEW:

Salary: $55,000 (commensurate with experience)

The Operations Manager reports directly to the Project Manager in fulfilling daily operations including but not limited to route supervision, staff, and operator (Taxi) supervision, effective communication with internal and external customers and coaching employees for optimal performance, managing the entire operation, complying with all Company and Baltimore County policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct a walk around the premises prior to beginning the day’s activities to evaluate the operation. This will include making documentation of items related to safety, random inspection of taxi cabs, cleanliness of theoffice, and all other items related to this evaluation; after which the Operations manager shall report to the Project Manager upon the completion of this inspection.

  2. Manage A.M./P.M. sign in to ensure all routes run on time. Monitors operators to check that each is prepared to drive and has received notification of any route changes. Completes the A.M. dispatch log recording all operator tardiness and absenteeism.

  3. Monitors phone/trapeze communications during route times. Ensures that delays in service are recorded and communicated. In addition, makes sure all accidents or breakdowns are handled appropriately.

  4. Monitors operator absence and tardiness. Initiates appropriate emails to subcontractors in a manner consistent with company/location policy. Advises Project Manager of individual situations that require further attention.

  5. Is available at the window dispatch counter and phone after a.m. routes to assist operators with questions or problems. Supervises the communication of operator concerns or route changes.

  6. Communicates job requirements and expectations. Monitors the performance of staff and provides coaching and guidance as required.

  7. Takes corrective action with an employee who fails to meet company policy or customer needs. Involuntary termination issues must be handled by the Project Manager.

  8. When required, assists the Training Manager in new taxi operators training.

  9. Communicate effectively with the Safety Manager and Clientregarding accidents/incidents within real time.

  10. In the event of an important meeting, appropriate steps should be taken to represent Transdev with the highest regard to customer service and professionalism.

  11. Other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of Transdev.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years operations experience in a safety sensitive environment.

  • 2+ year’s previous supervisory experience.

  • Experience dealing with the Union and working in the transportation industry a must.

  • Valid Maryland Driver’s License

  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.

  • Must possess ability to lead and motivate employees.

  • Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.

  • Proven customer service and interpersonal skills a must.

  • General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.

  • Trapeze experience a plus.

  • Must be able to work as a member of the team.

  • Ability to manage customer relationships, provide strong customer service skills and work in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
